How exactly do you make raw chocolate cake and does it look or taste like cake?

Update March 22 2014

I went to the Live Superfoods website to see about buying ingredients to make a raw chocolate cake in order to follow up with this post and I almost had a heart attack. I’m not in any position yet to spend $10 on a 16oz bag of their Living Intentions Cacao Brownie Cake Mix with Sprouted Super Flour.  So I decided to try to throw something together with what I could find in the house. It didn’t turn out to be the hit I was hoping. I didn’t actually try it because I am in the middle of a fast but my taste tester wasn’t particularly impressed.

Original Post

I’m still browsing on the live super foods website making mental notes on what I am going to buy to try when I have money if I ever find myself having money to actually afford to make a lifestyle change as far as what I eat every day.

I came across this Living Intentions Cacao Brownie Cake Mix with Sprouted Super Flour. It’s supposed to be good for making raw chocolate cake, brownies, fudge cookies and more. I don’t tend to eat cakes and cookies and dessert type dishes very often; but I would eat them if I didn’t think they would turn me into a bulbous ball, give me diabetes and, of course, thwart my efforts to shrink my fibroids.

So I thought after reading that you can use the Living Intentions Cacao Brownie Cake Mix with Sprouted Super Flour to make raw chocolate cake that I would investigate raw chocolate cakes to see how they are made and what are the benefits of raw cake over baked cake.

I found a recipe for a raw chocolate cake that I want to try one of these days. As you know I have no money. I’ve just moved from the South to the mid west and it cost several thousand to make the move. We started with zero dollars and no idea how we were going to raise the money we needed but here we are. Only now we don’t have money and we’re living out of a bag of rice and a box of rotini pasta. Yeah, I know, totally not healthy for anybody and most certainly not for a woman battling fibroids; but I am mostly getting by on juice still even though my 21 day juice fast got sort of interrupted on about day 14 or 15.

But back to the chocolate cake. The picture of the cake that was made by Laura-Jane the rawtarian looks sooo goood. I so wish I had money. I’m actually kind of hungry right now because I don’t have stuff to make juice with so I’ve been sipping the juice I made this morning out of 1 banana, some kale and water. It doesn’t taste good but it’s all I have, and I need to stay away from solids today after yesterday’s madness (see The fibroid that is my life).

I don’t really know how raw cake tastes as I’ve never made it and I don’t know how it compares to baked cake in terms of the health benefits raw cake provides over the baked variety. I invite anyone who has knowledge of the subject and a point of view they wish to share to do so.

My name is Monica. I have fibroids. My fibroids are large enough that they have transformed my figure into something I am still trying to learn how to live with. In the meantime while I try to learn how to live with my fibroids I am also trying every possible method I can find to try to shrink them naturally because I am afraid of the idea of a hysterectomy. I lived with fibroids from 2007 - 2016. I started documenting my experiences on this blog in 2012. On March 7th 2016 I had a hysterectomy out of concern that I might have ovarian cancer. It did not turn out that I had ovarian cancer. The cancer scare forced the hysterectomy I was trying to avoid, and so, I became fibroid free as of March 7th 2016. I will try to keep this blog up and running in the hope that it will be of some use to others going through what I went through.
