I’m closing in on the end of my 4th day avoiding solids. Like I said in a previous post, I don’t have a set number of days that I’m trying to reach for avoiding solid foods and drinking only juices. I’m just going day by day and not making any declarations about doing a juice fast. My goal is to try to regain my lost sense of balance and get back into focus. I’m already feeling more balanced physically. My emotions remain a bit low, but I feel mentally stronger even while not necessarily emotionally energized. I am able to get up and do the things I need to do. So what’s the deal with the Is peanut butter okay to eat when you have fibroids question you might be wondering. Well, I have been putting a serving of peanut butter into my morning drinks to try to add some protein; but today I came across some material in which it was claimed peanut butter is one of the worst foods to eat. Peanut butter and popcorn apparently which is interesting because I was eating lot of popcorn just last week (the kind you have to pop in a pot on a stove) and I came to the conclusion that popcorn does not agree with my fibroid riddled system. Every... Continue reading »

The post Is peanut butter okay to eat when you have fibroids? appeared first on Fibroid Life.

This is of course not a “fibroid dress”. There’s no such thing as a fibroid dress that I know of; but there are such things as maternity dresses for pregnant women and since the reality for some of us with fibroids is that we can sometimes look pregnant even though we’re not, I figure it’s okay refer to dresses I think might be helpful to wear at those times as fibroid dresses. The dress shown here is a Bohemian style shift dress with a so-called “regal gold foil print”. Of course style is a personal thing so I’m not suggesting it as something you should wear. I wouldn’t mind having it or a similarly styled dress in my closet though. It looks like this particular dress is for women who wear between a size 16 to a size 34 so I wouldn’t be able to get exactly this dress unless they sell it in other sizes; but I definitely like the style and think it would help hide my fibroids on their more active days. Like I said in another post, one of the hardest aspects of living with fibroids is not having the freedom I once did to wear whatever I want. I mean, sure I can still wear anything I want and just not care what anyone thinks... Continue reading »

The post Bohemian Chic Gold Foil Print fibroid dress appeared first on Fibroid Life.

I am 2.5 days into avoiding solids for a while. I am drinking some not so tasty concoction throughout the day. I don’t have a set number of days that I’m planning to avoid eating solids. I’m just going to go day by day. In the meantime I went looking around for ideas to improve upon the taste of the concoctions I’ve been making and to find ways to fortify them with protein and other nutrients. I filled up a shopping cart with some hemp seeds, organic hemp protein powder, chia seeds and organic maca powder. I was about to checkout when I decided to check on Amazon to see if I could buy the items there so I could save some money on shipping by using Amazon Prime. As I was looking through the list of maca root powder products available on Amazon it occurred to me that I had no idea what maca powder is, so I stepped away from Amazon for a bit to go and do some googling. The first thing I came across when searching “What is maca powder” was an article titled “What Nobody Tells You About Maca Root Powder – Dangers And Side Effects”. You can find the article (here). I read the article and became intrigued to find out more about maca... Continue reading »

The post Will maca root powder make fibroids get bigger? appeared first on Fibroid Life.

It has been a while since my last update so I thought I would do one today. The status of my efforts to shrink my fibroids without surgery is that I am still not fibroid free after more than 2 years trying a number of approaches for getting rid of my fibroids using natural methods. By contrast, my sister who also had fibroids continues to remain fibroid free since having a myomectomy procedure done. I have another sister who had a hysterectomy to remove her fibroids and yet another sister who has fibroids but is one of those women who are not severely affected. She has had the fibroids since she was a teen. They expand her lower abdomen a little bit according to her but not to the extent of making her look pregnant. I appear to be the only one still suffering for my choice not to get the recommended hysterectomy. Lately I’ve been thinking that if I can come up with the money somehow I’ll just go ahead and look into surgical methods for getting rid of the fibroids. It’s either that or I’m going to have to accept to live with a large stomach and never be able to wear certain styles of clothing again; but I suppose there are worse things than never being able... Continue reading »

The post Shrinking fibroids update April 2013 appeared first on Fibroid Life.

Today I was googling the term “fibroids look like babies” because in a way some do look like fetuses to me and I have wondered if there could be any connection between growing fibroids and failing to get pregnant over many years…if something happens with your eggs and your uterus anyway that creates fibroids. Yeah I know that’s a pretty stupid thought. Still, I wonder if there’s any possibility that fibroids represent babies that were supposed to happen but never did. Anyway, I was checking google to see if anyone else is as crazy as I am to have thought that fibroids kind of look like babies; and I came upon a link to a page where someone was writing in to describe her experience with moving fibroids. I clicked on it because it’s something I experience. I have a fibroid that moves. Apparently these types of fibroids are called pedunculated fibroids. They hang from a stalk and can be either subserous pedunculated fibroids meaning they grow outside the uterus, or they can be pedunculated submucosal fibroids meaning they grow inside the uterus (you might want to look that up for yourself in case I have it mixed up). I believe at least 2 of my fibroids can be classified as pedunculated. I have one that moves about sometimes when I... Continue reading »

The post Pedunculated fibroid – Fibroids that move appeared first on Fibroid Life.

I was supposed to start a 7 day fast 5 days ago. I completed day 1 just fine but just before bedtime on Day 2 I decided to put off the fast until I was really ready. I don’t know if I’m really ready but I’m going to try it again today, only I will be attempting a 5 day fast this time instead of 7. Depending on how I feel on day 5 I might consider adding an additional 2 days. My fibroids have been out of control for a few weeks. The only time I’ve felt balanced in those few weeks was during the 36 or so hours that I avoided solid food between December 31 2012 and most of the day January 1 2013. I’ll be honest with you, this whole cycle is frustrating; but I guess I need to accept it for what it is because it’s a problem I have for the rest of my life unless I get the hysterectomy. Living with fibroids is my reality and I need to face the fact that as long as I’m going to have slip ups in my daily fibroid management routines, then I will have setbacks. I almost don’t want to admit it, but if I’m going to do this then I have to be completely... Continue reading »

The post Shrinking fibroids 5 day fast day 1 appeared first on Fibroid Life.

It has been a long time since I have written an update. I know most of my posts of late have started this way because I write an update then I disappear for an age. Although I have had a number of ups and downs with my fibroids since my last post, for the most part I have managed to maintain the results I have so far achieved since starting my second attempt at shrinking my fibroids back in November 2010. It has actually been 2 years since I was told that my situation had reached a critical point and that a hysterectomy was absolutely necessary and that the procedure needed to be done as soon as possible. The way the doctor put it to me was something to the effect that she wasn’t saying I was in critical danger but the situation was “emergent” and I needed to try to qualify for emergency medicaid or something because I needed to get it done. I have not since been back to the doctor. Yes, I know, it’s irresponsible; but I still don’t have health insurance and I still can’t pay out of pocket for the visit so it is what it is. In the meantime I am doing what I can to take care of myself and I’m feeling better... Continue reading »

The post An update on status of my efforts at shrinking fibroids naturally appeared first on Fibroid Life.

It’s been a while since I have written an update on my progress with shrinking fibroids naturally. In my last set of updates I mentioned that I was attempting a 21 day juice fast. I got about 14 days done successfully but then I bailed. During the 14 days I saw incredible results. In one of my updates I mentioned that I was able to go out to the store wearing a t-shirt that I would not have worn previously because my stomach would have been protruding too much and people would have thought I was a good few months pregnant. The juice fasting had done such wonders that you could barely tell my stomach wasn’t flat. Unfortunately along with the flatter appearance of my stomach, I was also starting to look extremely thin to where everyone was in my face with their concerns, particularly my husband who made me feel like I just wasn’t attractive anymore. He actually told me I had to chose between being scrawny and tired looking with a flat stomach or looking healthy and “sweet” (code word for f-able) but with a big stomach; and he said his preference was for the latter. Not that his “preference” had any bearing on my choice to come off the juice fast early. What happened was I had... Continue reading »

The post Shrinking fibroids naturally before and after picture appeared first on Fibroid Life.

I’m still browsing on the live super foods website making mental notes on what I am going to buy to try when I have money if I ever find myself having money to actually afford to make a lifestyle change as far as what I eat every day. I came across this Living Intentions Cacao Brownie Cake Mix with Sprouted Super Flour. It’s supposed to be good for making raw chocolate cake, brownies, fudge cookies and more. I don’t tend to eat cakes and cookies and dessert type dishes very often; but I would eat them if I didn’t think they would turn me into a bulbous ball, give me diabetes and, of course, thwart my efforts to shrink my fibroids. So I thought after reading that you can use the Living Intentions Cacao Brownie Cake Mix with Sprouted Super Flour to make raw chocolate cake that I would investigate raw chocolate cakes to see how they are made and what are the benefits of raw cake over baked cake. I found a recipe for a raw chocolate cake that I want to try one of these days. As you know I have no money. I’ve just moved from the South to the mid west and it cost several thousand to make the move. We started with zero dollars and... Continue reading »

The post How exactly do you make raw chocolate cake and does it look or taste like cake? appeared first on Fibroid Life.

So I am trying to figure out what kinds of foods I need to start buying in order to keep my fibroids dissovling because like I said I cannot live on juice; or maybe I can but I don’t want to. I realized today that one of the websites I am affiliated with through my commission junction account is a raw foods business; so I figure once I have a few dollars to work with I can try out some of their stuff and write some reviews based on actual knowledge of the product. In the meantime I will post about some of the products I am curious about trying, starting with Lydia’s Organics Green Crackers. Honestly, these don’t look like the first thing I would reach for if I saw them on a plate next to some oreo cookies. I find it hard to imagine they taste good but who knows? I’d love to know so if you’ve had these please share. The description says they are “packed with garden fresh greens, like collards, kale, spinach, arugula, parsley, basil”, and that they are crunchy and satisfying. Doesn’t really say anything about the taste of them and I couldn’t find any reviews.

The post How do Lydia’s Organics Green Crackers taste? appeared first on Fibroid Life.
